As many as 120 young Vietnamese people aged between 16 and 24 from 28 countries and territories congregate in Hanoi for the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024, which is scheduled to run from July 14 to 29.
The event has been held annually by the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2003 to create conditions for young Vietnamese people from all over the world to learn about the traditions, culture, and history of their motherland and thus foster their solidarity.
This year’s Vietnam Summer Camp activities is scheduled to begin in Hanoi and move onto other localities throughout the country before ending in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the opening of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024 on Tuesday, Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairwoman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, welcomed the young overseas Vietnamese to this year’s summer camp.
In the framework of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024, young overseas Vietnamese people will interact with students of the Vietnam Naval Academy in south-central Khanh Hoa Province, visit Hoang Sa (Paracel) Museum in central Da Nang City, the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education in south-central Binh Dinh Province, and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts in the namesake city, and meet with successful overseas Vietnamese people. She said the program will enable participants to visit numerous landscapes, historical relics, and cultural destinations across the country. At each location, they will have the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and foster a love for the country.
She encouraged participants to interact with one another and learn the Vietnamese language.

On behalf of the 120 young overseas Vietnamese people, Nguyen Khue An, a 16-year-old from the UK, expressed her pride in joining the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024.
"I pay a lot of attention to the language and culture. I have previously participated in many cultural exchange and interaction programs in various countries and learned new languages," An said in Vietnamese.
"However, nothing is more wonderful than connecting with friends from all over the world who share the same beloved Vietnamese origin that my parents and grandparents always talk about."
She hoped experiences in the next two weeks would be a foundation for her to deeply understand Vietnam.
She told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that her main purposes of joining the summer camp are to learn about Vietnamese culture and speak Vietnamese better.

Trinh Dinh Gia Bao, a 19-year-old from Singapore, expressed his excitement about the program, as it would allow him to visit many localities he had never explored during his previous trips to Vietnam.
He shared his interest in history and mentioned that he plans to share his experiences in Vietnam with his friends, helping to spread beautiful images of the country.
