A VND500-billion (US$19.6mn) bridge connecting Binh Chanh District with Nha Be District in Ho Chi Minh City is set to open to traffic on the upcoming National Day holiday (September 2) after six years of construction.
Once in place, the bridge over Cay Kho Canal will shorten the distance of a road trip between the two outlying districts and facilitate the movements of residents in the two districts.

An official from the Nha Be District People’s Committee told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that relevant units are speeding up work on the project to put it into operation on September 2 as scheduled.
Work started on Cay Kho Bridge, designed to be 485 meters long and 12.5 meters wide, in 2018.
Hau, 37, said that residents of Nha Be and Binh Chanh Districts had traveled between the two banks of Cay Kho Canal by boat rather than using roads for a distance of over 10 kilometers. Boats operate every 15 - 20 minutes until 7:00 pm every day.
“I am looking forward to seeing the bridge open to traffic to make life easier for residents in the two districts and facilitate transport and trading activities,” Hau said.
