-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the ambassadors of Japan and New Zealand to Vietnam on Tuesday as they began their terms in the country. 

-- The Steering Committee for the Protection of Vietnamese Citizens Abroad and functional units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss measures for safeguarding Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon, Iran, and Israel amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

-- Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on Tuesday received Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a Thai royal delegation, who are on a working visit to Vietnam.

-- From August 5 to 11, Ho Chi Minh City reported 63 cases of rash fever suspected to be measles, including 25 confirmed cases, marking a significant increase from the previous week, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control.

-- Rescuers took more than three hours to find the body of a man who had suddenly swum into the middle of Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province and then sank on Tuesday afternoon.

-- An electrical discharge caused by a crane led to a power outage affecting approximately 142,700 households in the districts of Dinh Quan, Tan Phu, Thong Nhat, and Xuan Loc in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam on Tuesday.

-- Over 100 workers from Bo Hsing Enterprise Co. Ltd. in Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province, southern Vietnam sought emergency treatment at hospitals from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon with symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, suspected to be caused by food poisoning after a fortified meal.

-- Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam’s corporate bond issuance has totaled approximately US$7.8 billion.

-- Vietnam is slated to welcome a large delegation of 4,500 employees from Indian pharmaceutical giant Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. for a vacation from August 27 to September 7.

-- Muong Thanh Group, a well-known Vietnamese hotel and apartment developer, confirmed on Tuesday its acquisition of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hotel, located in Pleiku City in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, from Vietnamese conglomerate Hoang Anh Gia Lai. The group has completed the handover and is currently conducting repairs but declined to disclose the deal’s value.
