The Da Nang People's Committee has approved a new project to develop a park, a coastal sports club, and upgrade Son Thuy Beach in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, with a total investment of over VND34.6 billion (US$1.4 million).
Da Nang, located in central Vietnam, boasts a 92-kilometer coastline.
Along the 15-kilometer stretch of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, which runs from Thanh Khe District to Lien Chieu District, there are currently two parks and beach squares: Ha Khe and another at the end of Nguyen An Ninh-Nguyen Tat Thanh Streets.
This new project, set to begin in 2024 and run through 2026, aims to enhance recreational, sports, and beach amenities for the locals.
The development is also expected to serve as a training hub for high-performance coastal sports athletes, promote physical fitness, encourage the growth of beach sports, and boost the city’s tourism sector.

As part of the project, deteriorating facilities at Son Thuy Beach will be replaced with modern infrastructure, including a storage facility, eight changing rooms, ten freshwater shower stations, four water tanks, restrooms, landscaped green spaces, underground water reservoirs, and steps leading to the beach.
Upon completion, the coastal sports club will feature a 5,900-square-meter sports field, including technical rooms, meeting spaces, work areas, referee rooms, canteens, athlete changing rooms, and shower facilities.
In addition to these major upgrades, the project will offer public amenities such as restrooms, a security station, boat storage containers, tree planting for shade, and decorative elements.
The park will feature green landscapes, internal roads, and parking areas.
The Standing Board of the Da Nang Party Committee has issued a notice to address coastal development challenges.
Previously planned projects were replaced with room for parks, public beaches, and additional pathways to improve public access to the coast and enhance residents' quality of life.
