Heavy rains are expected to drench Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent provinces on Thursday afternoon and in the coming days, according to the Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center.
Showers are mainly forecast for the north part of the southeastern and southwestern regions in afternoons and evenings over the next several days.
The eastern region of Ho Chi Minh City as well as Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, and Ben Tre Provinces will see moderate rains.
The center warned of possible whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts during thunderstorms.
The region may experience the lowest temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and the highest mercury of 34 degrees Celsius.
A high tide is imminent in Ho Chi Minh City.
It is expected to peak during heavy rains, which may lead to severe flooding in areas along rivers and canals.
