-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi on Wednesday morning for the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan city of Russia, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, Chair of BRICS 2024.

-- Leaders of China, Cambodia, Cuba and Russia have sent their congratulations to Luong Cuong on his fresh election as State President of Vietnam.

-- General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense General Chansamone Chanyalath signed a protocol on defense cooperation for the 2025-29 period and a cooperation plan for 2025 between the two ministries on the occasion of the second Vietnam-Laos border defense friendship exchange in the northwestern province of Son La on Tuesday.

-- The Ministry of Transport announced the approval of 36 rest stops along the North-South expressway in the eastearn side, spanning from northern Lang Son Province to southern Ca Mau Province.

-- The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs will present a proposal to the Prime Minister for a nine-day 2025 Lunar New Year holiday from January 25 to February 2.

-- At a seminar on Tuesday, Hoang Duc Cuong, deputy director general of the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, stated that climate change, along with the El Niño and La Niña phenomena, is leading to stronger storms that are occurring more frequently and impacting Vietnam’s mainland more rapidly.

-- The Center for Disease Control of Binh Dinh Province in south-central Vietnam on Tuesday reported the death of a man due to A/H1pdm influenza infection, which was complicated by septic shock and Cushing’s syndrome resulting from medication.
