The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to resume the operations of four airports, including Da Nang, Phu Bai, Dong Hoi, and Chu Lai, in the central region on Sunday afternoon in the wake of storm Trami.
The authority made the decision based on weather forecasts from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting about Trami, the sixth storm to strike the East Vietnam Sea this year.
Accordingly, Da Nang International Airport in the namesake city and Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien-Hue Province were allowed to reopen at 4:00 pm.
Chu Lai Airport in Quang Nam Province restarted its operation at 1:00 pm, while Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh Province resumed its services at 5:00 pm.
The authority on Saturday issued a dispatch ordering the suspension of operations at the four airports on Sunday in response to the impact from the storm.
Trami hit Thua Thien-Hue Province, Da Nang City, and Quang Nam Province around noon on Sunday with winds reaching up to 74kph before weakening, according to the national weather center.
Da Nang authorities instructed ships and fishing boats to take shelter to ensure sailor safety and minimize damage following the storm.
Forces were assigned to urge fishermen and boat owners to remain in safe locations and to closely monitor areas with high boat traffic, ensuring they can respond swiftly to potential fires or explosions.
