Intense rainfall caused by a cold front will possibly hit central Vietnam, with Quang Tri Province, Thua Thien-Hue Province, and Da Nang City expected to bear the brunt until Thursday, said the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.

The cold front, which is approaching Vietnam’s northern border, is anticipated to hit the northern and central provinces on Monday night.

From Tuesday, northern and north-central Vietnam will experience cooler weather.

Temperatures in these regions are forecast to range from 16 to 18°C, while mecury will fluctuate between 12 and 14°C in mountain areas and likely drop below 10°C in higher elevations.

In Hanoi, residents may experience chilly weather from Tuesday, with lows of 16-18°C.

The cold front is anticipated to bring substantial rainfall of 100-500mm and thunderstorms to such central provinces as Quang Tri, Da Nang, Thua Thien-Hue, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai until Thursday.

The weather agency issued a level-2 disaster warning for Thua Thien-Hue due to the risk of flooding and landslides.

Flash floods and soil erosion are possible in mountainous areas and along riverbanks across Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai.
