The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies in collaboration with Singapore’s Chandler Institute of Governance opened a public governance course in the Vietnamese city on Monday, with a view to improving public service efficiency in the southern metropolis.
The training program aims to equip local officials, civil servants, and public employees with necessary knowledge and skills to optimize human resource management, contributing to improving the effectiveness of public administration at state agencies and organizations in the city.

The official hoped that through the training course, trainees will master Singapore's advanced governance models and can apply the knowledge in Ho Chi Minh City’s specific conditions.
Addressing the event, Dr. Truong Minh Huy Vu, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, said that the city is striving to improve the performance of the public administration apparatus, having researched effective urban management models in the world.
He expressed his hope that the training course will assist the city in boosting the application of information technology in staff performance appraisal.
In the future, other courses will be held in Singapore for Vietnamese trainees based on the city’s actual needs, Dr. Vu said.
