A woman from north-central Vietnam has been slapped with an administrative fine of VND7.5 million (US$295) for humiliating her husband.

The woman was identified as T.T.M.H., 50, who resides in Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City, which is the capital of Quang Binh Province.

Hoang Thi Thanh Nhung, vice-chairwoman of the Dong Hoi People’s Committee, confirmed on Friday that she had signed a decision to levy the administrative fine on H. for insulting her husband, N.T.S., and hurting his honor and dignity.

H. hurled rude and offensive insults at S., 50, at their house on November 26.

The penalty was based on the government’s decree on administrative sanctions against violations related to security, social safety, social evils, rescue and firefighting and prevention, and domestic violence.

Meanwhile, the husband was subject to a fine of VND15 million ($590) for assaulting and disrespecting H.. the same day in accordance with the above-mentioned decree.
