-- A man was fined VND35 million (US$1,379) and had 10 points deducted from his driver's license for making a U-turn on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway in northern Vietnam on Friday.

-- The Medical Center in Bu Dang District, located in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, on Saturday confirmed the death of a seven-month-old girl from a whooping cough.

-- The Center for Disease Control in Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands reported on Saturday that they were verifying a case in which a man died of rabies after being bitten by a dog two years ago.

-- Central Ho Chi Minh City is expected to experience the first widespread heatwave of this year’s dry season in the last days of February, with temperatures ranging from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius and exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in some areas.

-- Only a two-kilometer section of the 6.92-kilometer National Highway 50 expansion project, a key route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Mekong Delta, has been opened to traffic due to obstacles in the site clearance of several households. The project, which began in 2022, is expected to be completed this year.

Education

-- The International School Saigon Pearl in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Saturday that it would shut down after the academic year ends this summer due to a fall in applications.

Tourism

-- After the Lunar New Year holiday, many Vietnamese tourists have started to seek outbound tours, especially spring tours to some European countries, where spring typically begins in March and ends around May.
