Heavy rains flooded many roads in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam disrupting traffic and damaging newly planted crops in neighboring districts on Sunday.
The heavy rain caused flooding in several areas along inner-city streets in Tuy Hoa, such as Nguyen Du, Mau Than, Le Loi, and Le Thanh Phuong.
Le Thi Hoa, a 51-year-old resident living on Nguyen Du Street, said the rain was pouring heavily all day. Drains were blocked, and the water could not drain.
Hoa added that houses in low-lying areas or alleyways got flooded. After Tet, it is often sunny, but instead, they are battling this weather.

Nguyen Trang, residing on Mau Than Street, lamented that the floodwater started rising in the afternoon. Every time a large vehicle passed, water flooded into his house.
In Tay Hoa District, many areas were also submerged under water.
Ta Tan Cong, chairman of the administration in Hoa Thinh Commune, Tay Hoa District, reported that the heavy rain caused the water level in the Banh Lai River to rise, flooding low-lying areas in the commune.
Around 150 hectares of cassava crops, planted only 10-20 days ago, were flooded, causing losses for farmers, Cong informed.

Tran Minh Tri, chairman of the People's Committee in Tay Hoa District, said that local authorities were assessing the damage.
The district instructed communes and towns to employ emergency response solutions.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of a strengthened cold air combined with the wind-catching topography of the Truong Son Mountain, the central provinces from Thua Thien-Hue to Binh Thuan experienced heavy rains and thunderstorms on Sunday.
As this time of year is considered the dry season, this was an exceptionally heavy rainfall event in the region.
