Vietnam gained 11 gold and three silver medals at the 2023 Asian & Asian Youth Shuttlecock Championships, which wrapped up in Hong Kong on Saturday, ranking first at the tournament.

The Vietnamese shuttlecock team was followed by mainland China and Hong Kong that placed second and third, respectively.

During the five-day competition, the Vietnamese team won almost all categories, with one more gold and three silver medals earned on the last day.

Among the total of 14 medals, six golds and one silver were grasped at the Asian Shuttlecock Championship while five more golds and two more silvers were bagged at the Asian Youth Shuttlecock Championship.

The team exceeded its target of only four gold medals set before the tournament.

With such excellent performances, the team has maintained its No. 1 position in Asia as well as the first place at all 10 world shuttlecock championships it has attended so far.

Held by the Asian Shuttlecock Federation, the 2023 Asian & Asian Youth Shuttlecock Championships gathered 260 athletes from eight teams from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Thailand, Mongolia, India, and Vietnam.

The categories of the competition included Men’s Team, Women’s Team, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Single, Women’s Single, and Mixed Doubles.
