Vietnamese football player Le Dinh Long Vu was named among the world’s top 60 best 17-year-old young football talents in a list released by UK newspaper The Guardian on Thursday.

The Guardian reporters wrote that “Vietnam are blessed with many technical, fast players who are equally comfortable on either foot but Le Dinh Long Vu already has fans excited about how far he can go.”

Vu put on such an impressive performance at Asia’s Under-17 Championship that he was called up to the country’s under-23 team.

His pace, slight stature, ball handling, and ability to whip balls into the goal area has led fans to compare him to Phil Foden of Manchester City, according to the UK newspaper.

“Young Vietnamese talents don’t always progress as much as they should but with the right coaching and club, Le Dinh could go very far indeed,” the newspaper wrote.

Vu is the only Southeast Asian player in the list.

The 1.72-meter-tall player is a resident of north-central Ha Tinh Province. He currently plays as a winger for Song Lam Nghe An Football Club in Nghe An Province, which borders Ha Tinh.

The list also included outstanding players who are considered football prodigies in their homeland, such as Endrick from Brazil, Zaïre-Emery from France, and Paris Brunner from Germany.
