Erling Haaland got sweet revenge on Marc Cucurella for his cheeky Haaland song after a 2-0 victory for Manchester City over Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
He held off the defender to score Man City's opening goal against Chelsea, just weeks after the Spaniard sang a song making a jibe at the Norwegian, reported The Mirror.
Following Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, Cucurella celebrated by singing a popular terrace chant that praises him before mocking Haaland, reported The Manchester Evening News.
His chant during Spain’s celebrations after beating England 2-1 in the final in Berlin was 'Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble because Cucurella is coming!'"
Haaland scored his 91st goal in his 100th appearance for Man City, according to Reuters.
Goals from Haaland and Mateo Kovacic ensured City’s Premier League title defense began with a win.
“Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt, and this summer he sings a song about me,” Haaland made a sharp remark about Cucurella in an interview with former Norwegian footballer Jan Åge Fjørtoft.
Haaland declined to intervene when Cucurella went down with a cramp next to him in the 79th minute of the match, showing that he did not forget the cheeky song about him.

While City eased to victory in west London, football fans loved seeing Haaland dominate Cucurella for his first of the campaign, reported TalkSport, a sports radio station in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
"Cucurella gets bullied and can't deal with Haaland letting him score, who's singing now! Some people write their own fate," one wrote on X.
"Football script writers are so predictable because Haaland scoring a goal with Cucurella defending on him was the most obvious thing ever," a second joked.
Premier League 2024/25 began with impressive performances from the big clubs who aimed to gain early momentum in the title race.
In the first week of the new Premier League season, heavyweights Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United started their campaign with convincing wins to present a strong case for their title challenge, according to Hindustan Times, an Indian English-language daily newspaper based in Delhi.
