The Vietnamese government on Monday issued a resolution to grant e-visas to citizens from all countries and territories.
The resolution, which replaces Resolution 79 dated May 25, 2020 and Resolution 60 dated April 27, 2022, came into force on Tuesday.
As per the resolution, 13 airports allowing foreigners to enter and exit the country with an e-visa are Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa Province, Da Nang in the namesake city, Cat Bi in Hai Phong City, Can Tho in the namesake city, Phu Quoc in Kien Giang Province, Phu Bai in Thua Thien Hue Province, Van Don in Quang Ninh Province, Tho Xuan in Thanh Hoa Province, Dong Hoi in Quang Binh Province, Phu Cat in Binh Dinh Province, and Lien Khuong in Lam Dong Province.
E-visas are applicable to 16 border gates, including Tay Trang in Dien Bien Province, Mong Cai in Quang Ninh Province, Huu Nghi in Lang Son Province, Lao Cai and Na Meo in Thanh Hoa Province, Nam Can in Nghe An Province, Cau Treo in Ha Tinh Province, Cha Lo in Quang Binh Province, La Lay and Lao Bao in Quang Tri Province, Bo Y in Kon Tum Province, Moc Bai and Xa Mat in Tay Ninh Province, Tinh Bien and Vinh Xuong in An Giang Province, and Ha Tien in Kien Giang Province.

The government also issued another resolution to extend the visa-free stay to 45 days from 15 days for citizens of 13 countries.
Accordingly, citizens from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus benefit from the e-visa validity extension of 45 days in Vietnam, regardless of passport types or entry purposes, as long as they meet the entry requirements in line with Vietnamese laws.
In June, Vietnam’s lawmaking National Assembly passed a number of amendments to the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners, allowing extending the validity of e-visas granted to foreigners entering the country to 90 days from no more than 30 days for single entry or multiple entries.
The legislative body also assigned the government to decide on the list of countries and territories whose citizens can enjoy the prolonged stay, as well as the list of international border gates where foreigners can enter and exit using an e-visa.
The move is aimed at boosting Vietnam’s inbound tourism, attracting foreign investors and shoring up scientific research and business cooperation.
Before the resolution on e-visa issuance was announced, Vietnam had granted e-visas to citizens from 80 nations, news site VnExpress reported.
