Vietnamese animation studio Sconnect on Wednesday announced the launch of Sconnect Academy of Media Arts (SAMA), Vietnam’s first animation and game design school.
Sconnect is the producer of the popular cartoon Wolfoo, an animated series first released in 2018 which follows the adventures of a wolf and his friends and family.
The Hanoi-based academy’s mission is to train young talents who have a passion for animation and game design and wish to enter Vietnam’s animation workforce.
According to People’s Artist and director Pham Ngoc Tuan, the launch of SAMA signals a boom in Vietnam’s animation industry, helping the future animation workforce unlock the industry’s potential.
The academy is expected to offer professional training programs and create conditions for learners to study with Vietnam’s leading cartoon producers.
Vu Thuong, director and principal at SAMA, hopes that the school will aid young designers in spreading cultural and educational values to the public via their animation and game design products.
Courses at SAMA, which comprises two departments – animation and games arts – are designed to span two years each, with practical sessions constituting 80 percent of the entire course.
The first class will launch in August.
According to Sconnect academic director Luka Trinh, the school's training programs will focus on creativeness, artistic sensibility, and in-depth knowledge.
Besides, learners will receive instruction in foreign language skills to enhance their ability to seamlessly integrate into the global labor market.
