Thousands of people, including foreign travelers, have eagerly indulged in the authentic dishes of south-central Vietnam's Binh Dinh Province at a local culinary culture festival.
This event is part of the 2024 Amazing Binh Dinh Festival, which commenced on Friday with the aim of stimulating tourism growth.
The festival takes place in Thi Nai Bay, located in Quy Nhon City of Binh Dinh Province, showcasing a plethora of diverse cultural, culinary, sports, and tourism activities from March 22 to 31.
A highlight of the event, the local culinary culture festival presents various quintessential specialties of Binh Dinh.
Renowned chefs prepared these delicacies on-site, offering festival-goers a taste of the region's culinary delights.
These distinctive dishes include shrimp pancakes, fermented pork rolls, fried shrimp spring rolls, and tuna with vermicelli soup, among others.
Both Vietnamese and foreign visitors to the festival have demonstrated their curiosity and keen interest in Binh Dinh's unique culinary offerings.
Jeremy, a French traveler, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper his fondness for shrimp pancakes.
He praised the dish, prepared with flour, shrimp, and bean sprouts, describing it as delicious and crispy.
He also mentioned that the accompanying vegetables, rice paper, and dipping sauce complemented the dish excellently.
Nhu Ngan, a traveler from Hanoi, expressed her delight at attending the event.
She, along with many other visitors, eagerly watched a South Korean chef, one of the event's guests, demonstrate how to make kimbap – a Korean dish consisting of cooked rice, vegetables, fish, and meat rolled in dried seaweed sheets and served in slices.
"During the festival, enthusiasts of culinary culture will have the chance to exchange knowledge and learn the secrets from renowned chefs who infuse ingredients and dishes with soul, crafting them into unique culinary masterpieces that reflect the Vietnamese national identity,” said Pham Anh Tuan, chairman of the Binh Dinh administration.
He expressed his hope that this festival will foster stronger ties between Binh Dinh and other Vietnamese regions, as well as its international counterparts, in promoting the culinary culture of the province and Vietnam as a whole.
