Daesung, the lead vocalist of the internationally renowned K-pop group Big Bang, recently shared his excitement for Vietnamese food on social media while dining at a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City this July.

His experiences were captured in a video during his visit to Vietnam for a fan meet-and-greet.

The 12-minute video was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday and had already garnered over 26,000 views by Wednesday afternoon.

Daesung delighted with Vietnamese food

The 35-year-old singer spent a good portion of the video gushing over a coconut smoothie.

“Wow! This [coconut smoothie] is so good,” he said in the video as he gave a round of applause for the drink.

He was similarly elated after sampling cha gio (spring rolls).

“Wow, the batter is so crispy,” he exclaimed. “The inside is so creamy.”

The next dish on Daesung’s menu was stir-fried noodles with seafood.

“The noodles are so tasty. Wow! So delicious,” Daesung said of the dish.

Lastly, Daesung sampled a roasted baby pig after sharing that he had once seen the dish in the Philippines and was excited to try the Vietnamese version.

“It [the dish] is better than I thought,” he said.

After eating, all Daesung could do was lament that his time in Vietnam was coming to an end.

“Let’s stay one more day,” he said.

Clips from Daesung’s dining experience have been widely shared across Vietnamese social media.

One particular clip, posted on Facebook by VKR News, had amassed 40,000 likes, 970 comments, and hundreds of shares by Wednesday.

Daesung also took a jaunt to Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic Ben Thanh Market, where he spent his time checking out dozens of stalls.

“I think I need to bargain as much as I can,” he said when he was wandering the market’s narrow aisles.

Eventually, he settled on purchasing some pairs of glasses.

“It’s my first time shopping for clothes since I was discharged [from the army],” he said.

Daesung launched his fan tour, D's Road Asia Tour, in Seoul on March 16 and 17 after releasing his ‘Falling Slow’ album.

The meet-and-greet in Ho Chi Minh City was one of the stops on the tour.
