Private airlines Air Mekong and JetStar Pacific will rent more planes from their foreign partners to keep up with rising demand in the local market.

Two more Airbus A321 airplanes will be leased to Mekong Aviation Joint Stock Co, or Air Mekong, bringing the total number of aircraft in its local fleet to six, said Luong Hoai Nam, chief executive officer of Air Mekong.

The two new aircraft will be in Vietnam to make their maiden flight in December this year, he added.

Four Airbus A320 airplanes will be leased to JetStar Pacific’s fleet in the remaining months of 2012, of which two are expected to be operational within this month.
