Groupon dealsoc.vn shut down, headquarters closed

Friday, December 07, 2012, 13:00 GMT+7

Online groupon shopping website www.dealsoc.vn has stopped operation while its owner – All in One Co Ltd headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City – was shut down.

Dealsoc.vn now displays the words "SOS lua dao truc tuyen" meaning "SOS online fraud".

The company provided customers with vouchers to buy goods or enjoy services from the its partners at discounted prices. The buyers will pay money to All In One, and the firm is supposed to repay its partners under their agreements.

However, its partners are now accusing the company of not paying them as promised and delaying debt settlement. All In One has pledged in writing to settle the debts by January 2013.

Late last month, some 20 businesses besieged the company headquarters in Phu Nhuan district to demand debt payment.

Nguyen Thi Quy Vinh told Tuoi Tre then that the company owed her business VND34 million, while the total figure for all partners was as high as VND300 million.

“They promised to clear the debts by a certain day, but repeatedly delayed it,” said Pham Hoang Minh, representative of a fast-food restaurant, to which All In One owed VND70 million.

In mid-November, another groupon company, Nhom Mua (www.nhommua.com) caused great concerns as its website became inaccessible and the company’s headquarters was blockaded by economic police.
