British billionaire Richard Branson to talk with Vietnamese audience next month

British billionaire Richard Branson will be a special guest and a key speaker at an event held in Ho Chi Minh City next month.

The event, organized by  local event organizer M.O.V.E, will be held on September 12 and 13 with the participation of many foreign speakers, mostly businesspeople, including Singaporean millionaires Adam Khoo and Fabian Lim, American millionaire Kane Minkus, and British businessman Eric Ho.

The British billionaire will be present for more than two hours on the last day of the business and investment networking event, to take place at the Military Zone 7's Gymnasium in Tan Binh District.

Branson, 65, is among the most successful businessmen in England and is a symbol of entrepreneurship.

He is well known for the practical thinking he stated in his book, “Screw it, let's do it", demonstrating an innovative spirit and willingness to accept and take risks with new ideas.

It took M.O.V.E. about US$450,000 and five years to prepare the plan to invite Branson to be the key speaker at the event, according to local news website VnExpress.

In 2010, the company began contacting Branson’s image-managing partner. To satisfy the conditions that they set, the company had to demonstrate experience in the organization of an event with highly respected foreign speakers, besides ensuring financial capacity, according to VnExpress.

According to Forbes Magazine, Branson owns a property portfolio worth $5 billion, ranking 330th in the list of the world’s billionaires and the 12th richest person in Britain.

He started the Virgin brand and made money primarily from charging dozens of companies to use his brand, not from returns on investments.

There will be five types of tickets available for the program, ranging from VND500,000 ($22) to VND70 million ($3,010) each.

For the highest-priced ticket, a visitor will be treated as a M.O.V.E member with all privileges, including the best seats and a party with all the speakers after the event; while the cheapest ticket only offers a back or side seat and the handouts and other documentation needed to join the event.
