A Vietjet flight carrying 176 passengers from Quang Ninh Province in northern Vietnam arrived in the country’s southern city of Can Tho on Tuesday, marking the launch of the Can Tho-Quang Ninh air route.
Vietjet will operate two weekly round-trip flights on the new route every Tuesday and Sunday, with each flight leg taking two hours and 20 minutes.
The launch of the route was attended by representatives of the two localities, including Tran Viet Thuong, chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee, and Cao Tuong Huy, acting chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee.

This is the ninth domestic route operated by Can Tho International Airport and the third domestic one linking Can Tho with northern localities.
Prior to Quang Ninh, local airlines had launched air services connecting the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho with Hanoi and Hai Phong City.
The launch of the new route is expected to facilitate the transport of goods from southern Vietnam to the north, paving the way for products of the Mekong Delta region to reach the Chinese market more quickly and effectively.
According to a representative of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the new route is expected to enable Can Tho to woo more international and domestic visitors to the region.
