Work on the Lach Huyen non-tariff, logistics and industrial zone project is scheduled to start on Saturday at the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone in Vietnam’s northern port city of Hai Phong.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the tariff-free project will be co-held by the Hai Phong People’s Committee and Xuan Cau-Lach Huyen Investment JSC, the project’s investor, with the participation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the central and municipal officials.
The development of the Lach Huyen non-tariff, logistics and industrial zone project was approved by the prime minister on April 1, 2021.
It will become the country’s largest non-tariff zone that will cover 752 hectares in the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone.

The free-trade project is expected to help perfect the structure and value chain of the Lach Huyen international seaport and pave the way for further marine economic breakthroughs achieved by the port city.
Besides, the project is anticipated to significantly contribute to the city’s goal of developing the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone into an integrated economic zone serving the socio-economic growth of the city and the country’s northern coastal region.
The investor said that the establishment of the non-tariff zone, along with such a deep-water port as the Lach Huyen International Seaport will form an adequate seaport system in the area.
The project is also projected to attract global leading maritime and logistics businesses, create a new goods transshipment hub, and pave the way to boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction in Hai Phong as well as the northern region.
