Many global retail giants from Japan, France, the United States, Mexico, Sweden, and Thailand are actively seeking Vietnamese farm produce and foodstuff suppliers at the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 exhibition, which kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday and will last until Friday.
Among the global firms participating in the event are Aeon, Uniqlo, Walmart, Amazon, Boeing, AES, Carrefour, Decathlon, Central Group, Coppel, and IKEA.
The event, co-hosted by the European - American Market Department, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, features an array of trade activities aimed at connecting international supply chains.
Vietnam is moving toward becoming a global manufacturing hub, with numerous major groups and retailers having selected the Southeast Asian nation as a strategic destination for global supply chains, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai.
Vo Van Hoan, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said that the city is speeding up its global integration and focusing on green and circular economic growth.
The Export Forum 2023 and the Green Export Forum held within the framework of the event will maximize export promotion in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.
The municipal administration will help enterprises remove obstacles over export-import activities, Hoan underlined.
