Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam has recently seen an influx of flights arriving from Kazakhstan, which marks a resurgence of tourists from Eastern European countries.
Consecutively, two connecting flights from Taraz City, Kazakhstan, touched down in Phu Quoc on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Monday, another inbound flight from the Kazakh capital city of Almaty landed in the Vietnamese island city.
These flights, operated by SCAT Airlines, a civil airline of Kazakhstan, are among the first in over a year to reconnect the tourism route between Eastern Europe and Phu Quoc.
More than 600 tourists on these flights are scheduled to enjoy a five-night stay on the island, provided by Vinpearl, a hospitality subsidiary belonging to Vietnamese multi-sector conglomerate Vingroup, and other branded hoteliers.

SCAT Airlines plans to operate a weekly schedule of six flights for three routes between Kazakhstan and Phu Quoc until the end of this year.
One route will provide direct service from Almaty to Phu Quoc Island, while the other two routes will include a stopover in Taraz City.
Experts appraised this as a positive indicator for the tourism sector in Phu Quoc to capitalize on the growing interest of tourists from Eastern European and Central Asian countries, who are considering Vietnam as a destination for Halloween, Christmas, and New Year festivities.

South Korea has also announced more flight routes to Phu Quoc.
Its flag carrier, Korean Air, is set to launch a daily commercial flight from Seoul City to Phu Quoc, beginning November 26, with each service accommodating up to 330 passengers.
South Korea's low-cost airlines Jin Air and Jeju Air are expected to follow suit, operating three commercial flights per week to Phu Quoc, each with a capacity of 220 seats, commencing on December 6.
Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island, was third in the list of 17 most budget-friendly tourist islands worldwide announced by The Travel magazine earlier this year.
CNN placed the island among the best destinations in Asia in 2020.
