The Thang Long speedboat, the largest of its kind in Vietnam to date, will begin its maiden voyage on the Vung Tau-Con Dao route in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on Saturday, the service operator Phu Quoc Express JSC announced on Friday.
The vessel was built by 189 One Member Limited Liability Company under the Ministry of National Defense to operate on the Vung Tau-Ho Chi Minh City-Con Dao route.
It measures over 77 meters long and close to 9.5 meters wide, with a maximum capacity of 1,070 passengers.
The design made the watercraft able to ride up and over at least four waves and keep vibration to a minimum level, according to Vu Van Khuong, board chairman and general director at Phu Quoc Express.
