Many elementary, middle, and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City welcomed their students back on Monday morning to prepare for the 2022-23 school year.
At Nguyen Hue Elementary School in District 1, many parents took their children to school as early as 6:00 am.
Teachers already formed two lines at the entrance to welcome the very first students of the new school year.
“I woke up early today and felt very excited because I am officially a first grader,” said Gia Phuc.

In order to create a joyful atmosphere for students, especially the first graders who are coming to school for the first time, teachers were tasked with welcoming the students and guiding them to the schoolyard, according to Bui Thi Thanh, principal of Nguyen Hue Elementary School.
The homeroom teachers then took their students to their classrooms to introduce the school regulations and learning schedules.
Meanwhile, the school management board met with parents of first graders to talk about the curriculum and answer their questions, Thanh elaborated.
