Doctor with four kids warned for violating policy

Nguyen Duc Thinh, the head doctor at the Ear, Nose, Throat department at the Soc Trang general hospital who has four kids, was warned last Monday by the province’s Department of Health for violating the national policy on population and family planning.

The warning was proposed by the hospital and approved 100 percent by the disciplinary committee in a closed voting session last Friday.

Previously, Thinh was disciplined for harassing a female colleague. Earlier this year, Truc was accused of locking the department’s duty room before hugging and abusing a pharmacist.

However, in an explanation letter to the organization, Thinh only admitted to putting his arm on her neck.

The two-child policy was first introduced in Vietnam back in the 1960s and brought back in the 1990s as a move by the government to control the birth rate. According to the current implementation of the law, government employees who have a third child could be denied access to pay rises and promotions.
