An exhibition called “BB Forever - Brigitte Bardot, La Legende”, which captures French legend and beauty Brigitte Bardot in rare moments spanning her acting career with nearly 30 exclusive, unpublished photos, will run from May 10 to July 10 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The collection, which accentuates Bardot’s unrivalled beauty and sensuality in her rarely-captured daily moments, will be hosted at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza.
The Sofitel Saigon Plaza will also introduce “Baby Doll”, a special cocktail inspired by Brigitte Bardot, also known as BB, at its Boudoir Lounge, as well as a special menu called “Saint-Tropez”, which also draws its inspiration from the name of a town in southern France where the superstar used to live.
The exhibition was previously held in US cities like New York and Washington D.C. before coming to eight Asian cities including Bangkok, Beijing, Macau, Manila, Mumbai and HCMC.
Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot, born 1934, is a former actress, singer and fashion model and an animal rights activist. She was one of the best-known sex symbols of the 1950s and 1960s.
Her acting career began in 1952 and, after appearing in 16 obscure films, she was catapulted into stardom in 1957 with the release of the controversial film “And God Created Woman”.
She is also one of the most photographed women of all time, along with Marilyn Monroe and Diana, the Princess of Wales.
Bardot was the subject of Simone de Beauvoir's 1959 essay, The Lolita Syndrome, in which she was described as a “locomotive of women's history”. De Beauvoir built upon existentialist themes to declare Bardot the first and most liberated woman of post-war France.
Bardot retired from the entertainment industry in 1973. During her acting career, she starred in 47 films, several musical shows, and recorded over 50 songs. She was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1985, but refused to accept it.
After her retirement, Bardot established herself as an animal rights activist and formed the charitable Brigitte Bardot Foundation.
