The Vietnam Environment Protection Fund and local fashion designer Vo Viet Chung recently joined hands to start a project called “Blue Ocean World saves Vietnamese sea environment” to boost locals’ awareness of protecting seas and oceans and their resources.

Chung, the project director, said that the project will boast diverse activities such as clearing beaches in central Phan Thiet province’s Mui Ne, promoting sea protection knowledge among fishermen, planting trees near such beaches as Nha Trang and Da Nang, and holding painting competitions for kids in coastal areas and sea protection-themed fashion designing contests.

The project now has four goodwill ambassadors, namely actress Kim Khanh, beauty queen-magician Ngo My Uyen, MC-singer Nguyet Anh and 2012 Miss ASEAN Dieu Han.

Bui Cach Tuyen, deputy minister of Natural Resources and Environment said that the showbiz celebrities’ influence will hopefully help enhance the project’s effectiveness.
