Traditional, electronic music fuse in Hanoi show

Wednesday, August 14, 2013, 15:25 GMT+7

A show which is set to take place in Hanoi Aug 15 will feature the innovative blend of “cai luong” (traditional southern music and stage performances) and electronic music.

The performance, to be held at ATK, 73A Mai Hac De st., will feature artist Luong Hue Trinh, whose experimental works fusing modern-day and traditional music have mesmerized audiences, alongside local “dan tranh” (Vietnamese zither) artists.

“Though we have different starting points, we now meet in our love for traditional music,” shared the artists.

Local artists, particularly young ones, now tend to add originality and freshness to their works by fusing the diametrically different genres such as folk songs and electronic music or “cai luong” plays with movie effects.
