The UNESCO-recognized Complex of Hue Monuments is ready to present gifts to the 30 millionth visitor as part of a weeklong tourism promotion campaign to unfold later this month.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said Thursday on its website that the complex has welcomed nearly 30 million visitors since 1993 and is now set to receive the 30 millionth. Souvenirs will be given to this special visitor, the administration added.
The complex was inscribed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1993.
The gift presentation is part of this year’s third tourism promotion program launched by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
The program is slated to run from December 24 to 30, with such highlights as a meeting with travel firms, the introduction of three travel companies who send the most tourists to Hue in 2014, and an art performance to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Exhibitions will also be held at the Ta Tra and Tinh Minh Lau edifices, Dien Tho Palace, and Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Citadel).
Discounts will be offered on fees for admissions to the monuments and UNESCO-recognized “nha nhac” (Vietnamese courtly music) performances at Duyet Thi Duong Theater, charges for royal photo taking services at the Royal Palace, and electric car rides within the palace.
The Complex of Hue Monuments is located in and around Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue Province in the geographical center of Vietnam and with easy access to the sea, UNESCO says on its website.
Established as the capital of unified Vietnam in 1802 CE, Hue was not only the political but also the cultural and religious center under the Nguyen Dynasty – the last royal dynasty of Vietnamese history – from 1802 to 1945 CE, the UN agency adds.
