VietJet Air will have the famous cartoon characters “minions” decorated on one of its planes, the Vietnamese private carrier said in a press release on July 1.

According to the carrier, it has reached a deal with the American film studios Universal Pictures and its subsidiary Illumination Entertainment to get "minions" – the popular tiny yellow characters first seen in the famous animated movie “Despicable Me” – emblazoned on one of the airline’s brand-new Airbus aircraft.

The carrier expressed its hope that the new “minion” aircraft will bring plenty of smiles to the faces of passengers boarding VietJet flights this summer.

On the occasion, VietJet Air will also offer a series of activities to passengers and promotions to fans in the same week that “Minions,” the latest movie in the “Despicable Me” franchise, is launched in cinemas across Vietnam, starting July 10. In addition, some lucky travelers may even meet some "minions" on board a VietJet flight, as the airline has revealed that some of these famous loveable characters will appear to greet passengers, present gifts, and pose for photos on a special flight.

"Minions’" fans can also visit the carrier’s site www.minions.vietjetair.com every week for a chance to win return tickets from July 10 to July 30.

This is not the first time that VietJet Air has signed an exclusive cooperation deal with famous film studios to bring adorable characters from well-loved cartoons to Vietnam.

Previously, the airline cooperated with Walt Disney to have characters from “Planes” embellished on the fuselage of one aircraft.

Another aircraft featured Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and the airline also sponsored the cast from Mickey’s Magic Show in coming to Vietnam.
