Italy was crowned the champion of this year’s Danang International Fireworks Festival following their competition against the United States in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang on Saturday night.
Team Marterello from Italy competed with Team Altas Pyro Vision from the U.S. in the final night of the 2018 DIFF, before the representative from Europe was named the winner of this year’s event.
The U.S. was the runner-up of the competition, while the remaining six teams shared the third place.
Italy was a deserving champion after displaying a spectacular and eye-catching pyrotechnic show, in perfect harmony with background music.
Their competitor, the U.S. team, put up a good fight with a beautiful combination of light and colors.
However, some believed that Altas Pyro Vision‘s performance was not as impressive and captivating as their previous display.
The 2018 DIFF was attended by eight teams including host Vietnam, three-time champion Italy, previous winners the U.S. and France, Poland, Portugal, and first-time contenders Sweden and Hong Kong.
Under the theme “The Legend of Bridges,” the contest was held over five nights, beginning with a match between Vietnam and Poland on April 30, followed by France and the U.S. on May 26, Italy and Hong Kong on June 2, and Sweden and Portugal on June 9.
Italy and the U.S., with their most spectacular displays, advanced to the final round on June 30 for the championship title.
