Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said Nicaragua always attaches much importance to its friendship and solidarity with Vietnam, and wants more cooperation in economics, trade and investment. The Nicaraguan President made the statement at a reception on September 2 for politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Le Hong Anh during his visit to the Latin American country.

The President said he highly valued Le Hong Anh’s visit and considered it an important milestone in the relations between the CPV and the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

He suggested that Vietnamese enterprises visit Nicaragua soon to seek opportunities of investment and trade, adding that Nicaraguan businesses will also come to Vietnam to explore cooperation possibilities with Vietnamese companies and study Vietnam’s know-how in agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprise development.

In reply, politburo member Le Hong Anh, who is also a standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat, briefed the Nicaraguan President on Vietnam’s current socio-economic development as well as its rising position in the international community.

After agreeing to boost the two countries’ bilateral ties by increasing delegation exchanges, strengthening information and experience sharing, and supporting each other at international forums, the two also discussed numerous regional and international issues of mutual concern. They also agreed to educate their youth on the Vietnam-Nicaragua traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation relationship.

During a meeting with President of the Nicaraguan National Assembly Rene Nunez the same day Politburo member Le Hong Anh expressed his desire to enhance the relationship between the two parliaments, as well as step up delegation exchanges to share experience in legislative issues. During his stay, the CPV and the FSLN signed an agreement on strengthening the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and States.
