Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, arrived in Hanoi on Sunday, beginning his five-day Vietnam visit at the invitation of the Vietnamese Party and state leaders.
During his stay in Vietnam, the top Cuban legislator will meet with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
He will attend some events in central Vietnam, including offering flowers at the Fidel Castro Monument and visiting the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Quang Binh Province; visiting the Hien Luong Bridge, the Museum of Hien Luong - Ben Hai special national relic site, the relic site of the Provisional Revolutionary and Government of the Republic of South Vietnam, offering flowers and planting trees at Fidel Park in Quang Tri Province, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The top Cuban legislator will also join Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and head of the committee’s Organization Commission to attend a meeting to mark the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone in South Vietnam (September 1973-2023).
This meeting, scheduled for Tuesday this week, will be co-hosted by the provincial administration of Quang Tri, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam.
