-- Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on November 19 had separate meetings with President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Lee Myung-bak and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on the sidelines of the 21st ASEAN Summit and related summits in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

-- Many schools in the mountainous district of Lang Chanh in northern Thanh Hoa Province have developed cracks and subsided due to the recent downpours and floods in the locality.

-- Authorities of the central province of Quang Nam has requested that the Electricity Group of Vietnam (EVN) earmark VND2.53 trillion to support the Bac Tra My District to recover the damages caused by earthquakes said to originate from the company’s hydropower plant in the area.

-- The Ministries of Public Security and Justice have asserted that the regulation to levy administrative fines on drivers who do not transfer the vehicles’ ownership is reasonable, in response to public protestion that the rule should be abolished.

-- Dinh Van Thang and Nguyen Xuan Ngoc, both 21, were Monday prosecuted under charge of “kidnapping to extort money” by Hanoi police. Earlier the two kidnapped Truong Le Hung, 11, and ask for VND200 million of ransom from the boy’s family.

-- Authorities of Dong Nai province has asked the Hien Phu Thanh filling station in Trang Bom District to re-export 20,000 liters of gasoline sold under the A92 label but in fact have the octane rating of only 90.8.

-- A large number of Vietnamese farmers have had to shut down their chicken raising farms as they fail to compete with the imported chicken meats.

-- More than 850 foreign tourists have been able to receive the VAT refund when leaving the country, with a combined refund of VND3.1 billion, according to Tan Son Nhat Airport customs agency.

-- The Vietnam’s national football team will leave for Thailand today to attend the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup group stage.

-- IMG, the New York-headquartered sporting and media company and which acquired the rights to broadcast the English Premier League in Vietnam for the three seasons starting 2013, arrived in Hanoi on Monday to work with local broadcasters. But the company didn’t discuss anything about reselling the telecast rights to local TV networks.
