Ho Chi Minh City expands vehicle-free zone for national reunification anniversary preparations

Transport authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have decided to enlarge a designated area in the heart of the city to be shut down in preparation for many ceremonies to celebrate Reunification Day (April 30).

Vehicles will be banned from this area at certain times on three separate days in the next seven days, according to the Department of Transport.

The closed area has been expanded toward the bank of the Saigon River and is now bounded by Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Nguyen Binh Khiem - Nguyen Huu Canh - Ton Duc Thang - Ham Nghi - Le Lai - Pham Hong Thai - Cach Mang Thang Tam Streets.

Earlier, the transport department designated a smaller vehicle-free zone from which vehicles were banned.

All vehicles will be prohibited from entering the new zone on April 24 from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am, and on April 26 and 30 from 4:00 am to 12:00 pm each.

Vehicles can travel on alternative routes as follows:

From Binh Thanh District to District 5 and District 10:

Route 1: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh → Thi Nghe Bridge → Hoang Sa → Nguyen Dinh Chieu → Ly Thai To.

Route 2: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh → Thi Nghe Bridge → Hoang Sa → Nguyen Dinh Chieu → Nguyen Binh Khiem → Dien Bien Phu → Dinh Tien Hoang → Vo Thi Sau → Cach Mang Thang Tam.

From District 5 and District 10 to Binh Thanh District:

Route 1: Ly Thai To → Dien Bien Phu → Nguyen Binh Khiem → Nguyen Thi Minh Khai → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh.

Route 2: Cach Mang Thang Tam → Ly Chinh Thang → Hai Ba Trung → Hoang Sa → Dien Bien Phu → Hang Xanh Roundabout → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh.

From Binh Thanh District to District 4:

Route 1: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh (Binh Thanh District) → Hang Xanh Roundabout → Dien Bien Phu → Nguyen Huu Canh → Thu Thiem Bridge → Mai Chi Tho → Saigon River Tunnel → Vo Van Kiet → Pho Duc Chinh → Ham Nghi → Khanh Hoi Bridge → Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4).

Route 2: Dien Bien Phu (Binh Thanh District) → Dinh Tien Hoang → Vo Thi Sau → Cach Mang Thang Tam → Nguyen Thi Nghia → Nguyen Thai Hoc → Ong Lanh Bridge → Hoang Dieu (District 4).

From District 4 to Binh Thanh District:

Route 1: Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4) → Hoang Dieu → Doan Van Bo → Calmette Bridge → Vo Van Kiet → Saigon River Tunnel → Mai Chi Tho → Thu Thiem Bridge → Nguyen Huu Canh → Dien Bien Phu (Binh Thanh District).

Route 2: Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4) → Hoang Dieu → Ong Lanh Bridge→ Nguyen Thai Hoc → Nguyen Thi Nghia → Cach Mang Thang Tam → Dien Bien Phu (Binh Thanh District).

From Tan Binh District to District 4:

Route 1: Hoang Van Thu (Tan Binh District) → Phan Dang Luu → Bach Dang → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh → Hang Xanh Roundabout → Dien Bien Phu → Nguyen Huu Canh → Thu Thiem Bridge → Mai Chi Tho → Saigon River Tunnel → Vo Van Kiet → Pho Duc Chinh → Ham Nghi → Khanh Hoi Bridge → Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4).

Route 2: Ly Thuong Kiet (Tan Binh District) → Hong Bang → An Duong Vuong → Nguyen Van Cu → Nguyen Van Cu Bridge → Ben Van Don (District 4).

From District 4 to Tan Binh District:

Route 1: Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4) → Hoang Dieu → Doan Van Bo → Calmette Bridge → Vo Van Kiet → Saigon River Tunnel → Mai Chi Tho → Thu Thiem Bridge → Nguyen Huu Canh → Dien Bien Phu → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh → Bach Dang → Phan Dang Luu → Hoang Van Thu (Tan Binh District).

Route 2: Nguyen Tat Thanh (District 4) → Hoang Dieu → Khanh Hoi → Ben Van Don → Nguyen Van Cu Bridge → Nguyen Van Cu → Ly Thai To → 3 Thang 2 → Ly Thuong Kiet → Hoang Van Thu (Tan Binh District).
