The Danish Embassy in Hanoi and many Danish firms operating in Vietnam on Saturday joined hands to organize Danish Footprints 2015 in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, which was a social event to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Vietnam-Denmark diplomatic relations.

The event, held for the first time in Vietnam, offered a chance for Danish firms to meet and share their business management policies to support Vietnamese people and the community where the companies and their employees are operating in.

It was organized also to honor social work associated with the corporate social responsibility of Danish firms toward sustainable development.

The event featured many activities, including a Lego brick jigsaw and coloring game for small children, a jog around the Ban Nguyet Lake, and dancesport aimed at raising public awareness of health and environmental protection.

The event was a chance to connect Danish businesspeople as well as employees of the two countries so that they could participate in the activities and felt the core values and business ethics of Denmark, which are applied in the working environment in Vietnam, Ambassador Laursen said.

Based on the 44th anniversary of diplomatic relations and long-term partnership, bilateral ties between Vietnam and Denmark are gradually shifting to commercial cooperation, she said.

“We have about 130 Danish enterprises operating in various fields in Vietnam, of which 70-80 enterprises are headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces in the southern region,” the diplomat added.

Many other Danish enterprises are also eyeing investment in the Southeast Asian country given its rising economic status and the trade agreements the nation has reached or is about to conclude soon, the ambassador said.

"Danish companies set high business standards and a serious working environment with the objective of sustainable development in community relations, environmental responsibility and open communication,” the Dane said.

Vietnam and Denmark established diplomatic relations on November 25, 1971.

On April 1, 1994, Denmark set up an embassy in Hanoi, and Vietnam opened its embassy in Copenhagen on August 12, 2000.
