Two armed men who robbed an office of Vietnamese lender Vietcombank in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on Wednesday have been arrested, police say.
The duo was caught on Thursday evening while on the move not far from the site of their daylight robbery, according to Dang Duc Luan, police chief of Khanh Hoa’s Ninh Hoa Town where the heist took place.
The robbers, Tran Hoang Nhat Hung, 36, and Dam Minh Quang, 30, are both residents of the coastal town.
A number of homemade pistols and dozens of bullets were found at their place of residence after a thorough search, Luan said.
The two are undergoing police interrogation to determine their motive, the police chief added.
Police say they have recovered most of the cash the men took and hid at a secret location before their arrest, though the authority has not disclosed how much the duo managed to take away from the Vietcombank office.
CCTV footage shows Hung and Quang arriving on a motorcycle at a Vietcombank office on 2-4 Street in Ninh Hoa Town at around 10:15 am on Wednesday.
As one of them entered the bank and threatened staff into handing over cash at gunpoint, the other remained outside the building to alert his partner.
The two got away with an unidentified amount of cash before their arrest the following day.
