Six people were injured after a woman crashed her car into a group of motorcycles in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday evening.

The accident happened near the intersection of Nguyen Tri Phuong with Tran Phu Streets in District 5 at around 7:00 pm, according to preliminary information.

The unidentified driver was first traveling on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street, before speeding up as she reached the intersection and ended up hitting several motorbikes.

The automobile then mounted the sidewalk on Tran Phu Street and only came to a complete halt after slamming into a cellphone accessory store.

About five motorbikes on the roadway and sidewalk were hit by the car.

At least six people were admitted to the hospital while some others suffered minor scratches.

The driver then left the scene following the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, most of the victims were customers of the shop who were parking their motorbikes on the promenade.

It appeared that the driver had stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes, a witness said.

Police officers have finished probing the crash site and are working to identify the driver and determine the cause of the accident.
