— Vietnam’s COVID-19 tally on Wednesday morning reached 1,068 with 980 recoveries and 35 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.
— Authorities in the southern province of Binh Duong recently seized 324,000 used condoms being illegally recycled at a local facility.
— The new Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9 will be put into operation on October 10, serving passengers traveling from the southern city to central and northern cities and provinces.
— The University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Department for Administrative Management of Social Order under the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday issued national IDs at hospital beds to elderly patients who have difficulty commuting.
— The People’s Committee of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has decided to permanently close the Cam Ly landfill, around five kilometers from downtown Xuan Huong Lake, in 2022 as well as investing VND48 billion (US$2 million) in building pollution treatment infrastructure before stopping the landfill’s operation.
— In the first eight months of 2020, Hanoi’s fire and rescue police detected 13,676 establishments with violations and shortcomings in fire prevention and fighting, sanctioning 2,123 cases with more than VND12.1 billion ($523,100) in fines issued.

— The European Commission is organizing a digital seminar on EU production standards for agri-food products on October 8 and 9 to mark the entry into force of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on August 1 as well as to help boost trade opportunities.
— Shipments of Vietnamese fishery products to the EU in August, the first month after the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement took effect, increased by around ten percent over July, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
