A drug trafficking racket outfitting their vehicle with logos of national broadcaster Vietnam Television (VTV) has been broken up in southern Tay Ninh Province.

A significant amount of drugs was seized while the car was going en route from Cambodia to Vietnam, the province's police reported on Thursday.

The car driver, 26-year-old Trinh Hoang Khang from the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu, was identified as a suspect and promptly taken into custody.

Earlier, Khang attempted to flee after being detected and signaled to stop by police officers.

He only pulled over after colliding with a motorbike coming from the opposite direction.

After the crash, officers had to bust the car’s glass window and escort him to the police station.

They also found over 17 kilograms of narcotics shrouded in green bags in the car.

During interrogation, Khang admitted to having transported drugs to Vietnam as requested by a Cambodian.
