The alleged perpetrator of a shooting at Thanh Ne tollgate in the northern province of Thai Binh on Monday was convinced to turn himself in, the provincial police reported on Thursday.

The suspect was identified to be Bui Xuan Dai, a 33-year-old living in Tran Lam Ward of Thai Binh City – the capital of the namesake province.

Dai admitted to having pulled the trigger on victim Bui Huy Hoang at the Thanh Ne tollgate in Thai Binh Province’s Kien Xuong District.

He also handed in the gun and two bullets to police officers.

Meanwhile, Hoang was heavily injured from the bullet wound, with bullet fragments remaining in his body.

Earlier, criminal investigators of Kien Xuong District have filed a homicide charge, as prescribed by Article 123 of Vietnam’s Penal Code, against Bui Xuan Dai regarding the shooting at the toll station.

The charge was approved by the Kien Xuong District People’s Procuracy.

Kien Xuong police have launched legal proceedings against the case and conducted further investigation.
