Twenty-eight people from multiple coronavirus-hit provinces and cities in Vietnam gathered for an inauguration party for a beauty salon in the Central Highlands on Tuesday.
The inauguration was organized at Minh Chau Asian beauty salon on Nguyen Cong Tru Street in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province, the municipal People’s Committee confirmed on Wednesday.
A team of police officers and health workers later conducted an inspection of the venue and saw that pandemic prevention and control regulations were not followed there.
The attendees were singing karaoke at the time of the inspection.
Among the 31 participants, 28 are from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Binh Duong, Lao Cai, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Dong Nai, and Nghe An.
Most of these provinces and cities are combating the coronavirus.
They were staying at two hotels in Bao Loc City.

Although most of the attendees came from localities hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, none filed compulsory health declarations at the time of their arrival.
The 31 individuals are currently under supervision and health monitoring.
The Bao Loc steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control is completing the necessary procedures to impose suitable penalties on them in accordance with the law.
According to the municipal People’s Committee, the owner of the beauty salon on Monday asked for permission to organize the inauguration, but the request was denied.

Lam Dong Province has not recorded any local COVID-19 infection since the fourth wave of transmissions struck the country on April 27.
Local authorities previously suspended such non-essential services as gyms, barbershops, beauty salons, and sidewalk eateries on May 8 after a COVID-19 patient from northern Bac Giang Province was discovered to have visited Da Lat City, a famous tourist destination in Lam Dong, during a national holiday earlier the same month.
Such services were allowed to resume operations from May 27, after more than 600 direct and indirect contacts of the patient tested negative for the novel coronavirus and finished their quarantine.
Vietnam has documented 7,972 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday afternoon, with 4,877 local infections recorded since April 27.
