Police in Tuyen Quang caught a man hiding in the trunk of a car on the way to enter the northern Vietnamese province on Monday morning.
Functional forces found L.V.T., a 32-year-old resident of northern Vinh Phuc Province, lying inside the trunk of the car controlled by D.Q.P., 32, hailing from the same province, after pulling it over in Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang at around 1:20 am on Monday.
Upon the officers’ request, P. presented a coronavirus-negative certificate that had been issued on August 26 and already expired, while T. failed to show a COVID-19 test certificate according to regulations.
Amid movement curbs in Vietnam, interprovincial travelers are required to present such records to pass checkpoints.
T. confessed that he had hidden in the trunk to avoid inspection at COVID-19 checkpoints on their way from Vinh Phuc to Tuyen Quang, which are more than 70 kilometers apart.
The Tuyen Quang traffic police then transferred the two men to local authorities in Son Duong District for appropriate handling.
