A traffic accident involving three motorcyclists and their passengers killed three individuals and injured another two in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam on Wednesday afternoon.
The fatal crash occurred at around 4:30 am on a road in Dien Tien Commune of Quang Nam’s Dien Ban Town.
The head-on collision involved a motorbike carrying a local couple and two other motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction, one driven by a man with his mother from Da Nang to Quang Nam, according to the results of a preliminary probe.
Tran Van Hoang Long, 14; Nguyen Thi Trang, 15; and Ho Tan No, 54, reportedly either died at the scene or on the way to the hospital, while two others suffered slight injuries.
Local authorities were called to the scene to carry out an investigation.
Vietnam recorded a total of 6,278 traffic accidents in the first six months of 2021, causing 3,147 deaths and 4,465 injuries, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.
