One person was killed and four others injured following a crash between a van and tractor-trailer on an expressway in southern Vietnam.
The accident occurred along the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, which connects the southern metropolis with neighboring Dong Nai Province, at around 6:15 pm on Tuesday, according to the Vietnam Expressway Services Engineering JSC (VEC E).
Preliminary information showed that a 16-seater van driven by Nguyen Tan Chien rear-ended a tractor-trailer driven by Luu Thanh Dung.
The crash killed Chien on the spot and injured four passengers in the van.

The four injured victims, two of whom were in a critical condition, were taken to Long Thanh Hospital in Dong Nai Province for emergency treatment.
The vehicle was heavily damaged following the collision.
Traffic on the expressway section was restricted as police examined the crash site the same evening.
Officers are still working to determine the cause of the accident.

Stretching over 55 kilometers, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway was finished in February 2015.
The road has helped shorten journeys between Ho Chi Minh City and such provinces as Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and those in the Central Highlands.
Vehicles are allowed to travel at up to 120km per hour on this expressway.
