The weather in northern Vietnam remained frigid on Tuesday morning with average temperatures below 12 degrees Celsius, the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting reported, adding that a new cold front will move into the region on Tuesday night.
As of 6:00 am on Tuesday, temperatures were recorded at between nine and 12 degrees Celsius in the Red River Delta, five to eight degrees in mountainous provinces, and below two degrees on high mountains.
In Hanoi, lows were measured at 8.2 degrees Celsius in Ba Vi District, against the tropical norm of 30 degrees Celsius.
The average highs in northern Vietnam on Tuesday will float between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius.
A new cold front is forecast to move into northern and north-central provinces on Tuesday night.
It will result in cold weather in northern provinces and the localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue Province.
Average lows will be 10-13 degrees Celsius in the Red River Delta and north-central regions, six to nine degrees in mountainous areas, and below six degrees on high mountains.
The cold spell will also create strong winds and rough seas in the Gulf of Tonkin and maritime areas from north-central Quang Tri Province to central Quang Ngai Province.
Rains and thunderstorms are also forecast for the localities from north-central Ha Tinh Province to south-central Khanh Hoa Province on Tuesday and Wednesday.
